Parmesan Bacon Green Beans
When I was little, my parents made my siblings and me eat our vegetables. We normally only only had green beans or corn. The only problem was that I didn’t like green beans. So every other supper we would have the dreaded vegetable. They were awful!
They got harder and harder to swallow each meal. Until at last, my mother said I NEVER had to eat them again!! I had gagged on them terribly that last time. I was thrilled and quite surprised actually!!! The only time I ever ate one or two beans again was when Mama would jokingly say I had to eat them before I could have dessert.
I never even ate green bean casserole because I figured I wouldn’t like it. One time when I was dating, Kyle and I were invited over to a friend’s house for dinner. The main dish was green bean casserole!! I was nervous that I would make a scene eating it and washing it down with lots water, but I actually didn’t mind it, thankfully. I have never ate it since though.
A little less than a year ago, my husband got some Applebee’s when I was out of town. One of the sides he got was green beans since I obviously never made them. When I got home that evening, he was was raving to me about the green beans he'd eaten!!!
Since he enjoys cooking, he made them soon after trying to replicate the ones he’d eaten from Applebee’s. I tried some to see what the hype was all about, and to my surprise, THEY WERE DELICIOUS!!! That was something that I never thought I would EVER say about green beans.
Now anytime we are having steak or roast, we make green beans. They are good without the bacon too. I put the recipe for them below.
We’ve always just dumped, but I will try and get the measurements close to the amount we use.
